A picture can say a thousand words, right? That’s why it is very important to select the right ones for brochures, pop-up banners, websites etc. Because those images say a lot about your organization. I’ve always loved compelling imagery and avoid i-stock photography. Why when Halifax has so many talented awesome photographers?

Since I am a creative person, I love being in the company of photographers. I’ve expanded the image library for the Greater Halifax Partnership (GHP) by working with Timothy Richard to capture Halifax’s assets, coordinate photo schedules and shoots with GHP events and staff team.

At the Canada Games Centre (CGC), a newly opened Centre, I was fun working with a blank slate. I worked with Wooden Shoe Photography and Ghiz Photography to showcase the centre and the “people” of the Centre. The approach was to show people using the facility rather than an empty facility that looks like it’s not being used. In addition to organizing photo shoots to capture that many age demographics and abilities of users, photo permission slips were created. From time to time, we will bring out our Canon EOS Rebel SLR camera (an excellent investment) and capture special events and happenings throughout the Centre.
