SmartCity Business Show

Archived

The SmartCity Business Show was a video and social media project that took a fresh, engaging and entertaining approach to economic development and Halifax’s business climate. Where industry lingo is explained in common terms with the assistance of haligonia.ca host Craig Layton.

Each episode focused on Halifax’s strengths, like how international companies are attracted to our strong research facilities or how we have five degree-granting universities. Each episode had a corresponding SmartCity Blog post that was written by MSVU Public Relations work-term students (great profile for them).

My role in this project was overseeing the development of all 13 episodes in Season One. I created a Communication Plan that identified the goals, target audience and key messages. A content delivery plan that identified the communication channels and partners we would work with to promote the series. Finally, a bi-weekly release schedule was set-up starting in January 2011.  I also worked with the host and haligonia.ca to set up taping dates, story boards and taping locations.

This project was fun and it secured my belief that Halifax truly is a fantastic city!
